Job Description

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree from a 4 year college or university degree, preferably in Finance or Accounting
Minimum 5 years Commercial underwriting experience at a financial institution
Exceptional credit knowledge and underwriting skills in Commercial Real Estate lending
Advanced experience, knowledge and training in financial statement and tax return analysis typically resulting from a combination of education in accounting, financial and/or credit analysis or related areas
Strong portfolio management skills allowing for timely identification of credit concerns by bringing items of concern to the Relationship Managers attention;
Outstanding presentation, verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment
Excellent ability to juggle multiple credit requests at once
Self-starter, entrepreneurial attitude and an upbeat positive outlook

Responsibilities
Our Commercial Real Estate team is seeking an Underwriter to be responsible for analyzing, structuring, underwriting and coordinating the closing of major and complex commercial loans in compliance with the Bank's lending policies and procedures
The Portfolio Manager will work with the Relationship Manager to manage loans to ensure the credit risks are responsibly monitored and identified
This position will assist in attaining established Bank, region and branch goals through active participation in underwriting and closing desirable credits with the Relationship Manager
The Underwriter is responsible for assuring compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as, all applicable state and federal banking regulations
Assess strengths/risks, analyze financial strength, and assist with formulating loan structure in order to prepare Opportunity Memos and Loan Presentations for Credit Approval
Ensure completeness and accuracy of information presented for Credit Approval inclusive of incorporating changes recommended by applicable reviewers (i.e
Peer Reviewer, Lead Underwriter, Loan Officer, Real Estate Manager)
Support Loan Officer in presenting the Credit Approval to Loan Committee
Assist Portfolio Managers in proactively managing the relationships by recommending changes or enhancements to the credit based on continual review of the credit file and evolving risk profile
Act as primary contact person for the Borrower and track status of necessary due diligence items to aid the Loan Closer through the Documentation/Closing process
Facilitate Loan Documentation process by working with Loan Closer to ensure drafted Loan Documents are accurate and in line with Loan Approval
Collaborate with Loan Officer to negotiate loan documents with the Borrower and track and obtain approval from Credit for any meaningful changes which deviate from the original Credit Approval – prepare Admin
Action Memo and other Closing Memos as necessary
Assist Portfolio Manager in reviewing financial reporting requirements and covenants in Loan Approval and Loan Documentation to ensure accuracy prior to loan closing
Assist Portfolio Manager in the collection of past due reporting items from the Customer
Verify compliance with documented covenants, as tested by Portfolio Manager
Assist Portfolio Manager in escalating Borrower’s potential negative financial trends for discussion/resolution with Management
Assist Portfolio Manager in obtaining current loan status updates for the purposes of reporting on Relationship Reviews / Loan Status Reports / Credit Portfolio Reviews
Along with Portfolio Managers, work to establish “Best Practices” and further specific goals as set forth by Management
Specific projects to be determined, but current goals include:
Standard “Market Data” section format within approvals incorporating Zonda information and appraisal information
Standard formats for various forms of financials analysis: Equity Sponsor, Traditional Homebuilder (to include margin analysis, inventory/current projects details, debt schedule, etc.), Homebuilder/JV Manager

What You'll Do
