Job Summary
We are hiring an Assistant Store Manager in Training to join our team at Nith Valley Butcher & Deli. This role pays $22 to $27 per hour and includes a fast-track training program to prepare you for a leadership role within 6 to 12 months. You will learn the business from the counter up, ensuring our high standards for premium meats and top-tier service are always met.
Responsibilities
Assist in managing daily store operations, ensuring smooth and efficient workflow
Support the recruitment, onboarding, and training of new team members to build a strong, capable staff
Help oversee merchandising efforts to maintain attractive product displays and optimize sales opportunities
Handle customer inquiries with professionalism and enthusiasm, ensuring high levels of satisfaction
Participate in inventory management including purchasing, pricing, and stock replenishment to meet sales goals
Support cash handling procedures, POS (Point of Sale) transactions, and cashiering duties accurately
Contribute to marketing initiatives and promotional activities to increase store visibility and sales performance
Assist with administrative tasks such as payroll processing, bookkeeping, budgeting, and record keeping
Develop leadership skills through supervising team members, managing time effectively, and fostering a positive work environment
Qualifications
Previous supervisory or team management experience in retail or food service environments preferred
Strong communication skills with the ability to motivate and lead others effectively
Demonstrated proficiency in retail sales, merchandising, POS systems, and cash handling
Experience with recruiting, interviewing, training & development of staff preferred
Knowledge of pricing strategies, marketing techniques, and store management principles essential
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in building and tracking retail metrics
Ability to manage time efficiently while balancing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced setting
Strong math skills for inventory counting, budgeting, and financial transactions
Customer service-oriented mindset with phone etiquette and organizational abilities necessary for success
