About the Role

Chanel India is seeking a high-calibre Assistant Manager – General Ledger to join our Finance team at the Delhi headquarters. This role sits at the core of our financial governance framework and is responsible for maintaining the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of financial records. The position requires a strong foundation in accounting, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to operate in a sophisticated, fast-paced retail environment.

ASSISTANT MANAGER – GENERAL LEDGER

Chanel India is seeking a high-calibre Assistant Manager – General Ledger to join our Finance team at the Delhi headquarters. This role sits at the core of our financial governance framework and is responsible for maintaining the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of financial records. The position requires a strong foundation in accounting, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to operate in a sophisticated, fast-paced retail environment.

YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES ARE:

General Ledger Management
• Oversee end-to-end GL operations including preparation and posting of journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and adjustments.
• End to end fixed assets accounting, this would include the accounting from procuring till the balance sheet schedule.
• Prepaid account, T&E accounting, freight forwarder accounting.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of all financial data flowing into the ledger.
• Vendor reconciliations.
• Reviewing entries for correctness and alignment with Group policies.

Financial Closing & Reporting
• Lead monthly, quarterly and annual closing activities with strict adherence to Group timelines.
• Prepare financial statements as per schedule VI, reports and schedules for internal, regional, and global reporting.
• Analyze P&L and balance sheet variances, providing meaningful insights and explanations to management.

Audit & Compliance
• Support statutory, internal and Group audits by preparing documentation, reconciliations and responding to audit queries.
• Ensure compliance with Indian GAAP/Ind AS, audit requirements, and internal control frameworks.
• Strengthen internal controls by identifying gaps and implementing corrective actions.

Cross-functional Collaboration
• Partner with operations, supply chain, retail and other teams to ensure accurate accounting treatment and data capture across business processes.
• Work closely with the finance lead to support strategic initiatives, new business processes and system enhancements.

Process Excellence
• Drive continuous improvement across GL and reporting processes.
• Contribute to automation, standardization, and best practice adoption to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
• 5+ years of experience in General Ledger, Financial Reporting, and closing processes.
• CA or MBA (Finance) required.
• Strong preference for candidates from the Retail sector; FMCG/FMCD backgrounds will also be considered.
• Solid understanding of accounting standards, internal controls and audit readiness.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel; exposure to global reporting environments is a plus.
• Strong analytical mindset, ownership orientation, and ability to work with precision under tight timelines.
