About the role

Are you passionate about science and eager to kickstart your Technical career in a dynamic lab environment? We have an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Support Technician to support our Bioengineering and Chemistry departments.

Split equally across the departments, this is an entry level position for someone looking to develop general technical skills and gain experience within a technical support role. The post holder will integrate into established technical teams across both departments. To note: This role will be physically demanding and will require manual handling.

What you would be doing

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to gain knowledge and experience supporting general technical duties across both departments.

You'll be an integral part of our technical teams, gaining valuable experience in laboratory maintenance, equipment upkeep, and general technical duties. Your responsibilities will include:
• Assisting with laboratory moves, waste collections, and deliveries
• Maintaining laboratory equipment, consumables, and PPE
• Supporting the upkeep of core facilities and laboratories
• Collaborating with technical staff on various projects

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to work across two departments, developing a broad range of skills and knowledge. You'll also have access to training and development opportunities, with the potential to learn scientific techniques and equipment.

The ideal candidate will:
• be an excellent and inclusive team player, able to communicate well and with good customer service skills
• have a proactive and adaptable approach to work
• have a keen interest in science and technology, a desire to learn, and to work in a technical role
• be physically capable of being on site full time, and carrying out basic manual handling tasks (trolleys and lifting equipment are all available as needed)
• be able to perform work safely and to a good standard with care and attention
