Job Profile: Assistant Fashion Designer for Baby & Kids Garments
Job Summary: As an assistant fashion designer specializing in baby and kids garments, you will be responsible for assisting in creating innovative, stylish, and age-appropriate designs for clothing items targeted at infants, toddlers, and children. This role involves understanding the unique needs and preferences of the target audience, keeping up with the latest trends, and working closely with cross-functional teams to bring the designs to life.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Trend Research: Stay updated with the latest fashion trends, color palettes, and styles relevant to the baby and kids fashion industry. Conduct research to identify emerging trends and adapt them to suit the target age group.
2. Design Concept Development: Collaborate with the cross functional team to develop creative and marketable design concepts for baby and kids garments. Consider factors such as comfort, functionality, and safety in the design process.
3. Sketching and Illustration: Create sketches and illustrations of design ideas, considering the specific requirements of baby and kids garments. Use computer-aided design (CAD) software to visualize designs and create exceptional graphics for garments and as needed for other marketing purposes.
4. Fabric and Material Selection: Work closely with fabric sources and vendors to select appropriate fabrics and materials for baby and kids garments. Consider factors such as softness, durability, breathability, and safety standards.
5. Color and Print Coordination: Develop color schemes and coordinate them with prints, patterns, and embellishments to create visually appealing designs. Ensure that the colors and patterns are appropriate for the target age group.
6. Technical Specifications: Create detailed technical specifications for each design, including measurements, material requirements, construction details, and finishing techniques. Communicate these specifications clearly to manufacturers and production teams.
7. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including textile designers, product developers, and manufacturers, to ensure the seamless execution of designs and resolve any design-related issues that may arise during the production process.
8. Prototype Development and Fittings: Work closely with the product development team to create prototypes and samples of garments based on the design concepts. Participate in fittings and provide feedback to achieve the desired fit, comfort, and aesthetic appeal.
+. Market Analysis and Consumer Insights: Conduct market analysis to understand the target audience, competitors, and market trends. Stay informed about customer preferences, purchasing behavior, and evolving needs in the baby and kids fashion segment.
10. Collection Planning and Presentation: Contribute to the planning and development of seasonal collections for baby and kids garments. Prepare design presentations, mood boards, and line sheets to showcase the concepts, inspirations, and key elements of each collection.
Requirements:
· Bachelor's degree or equivalent in fashion design, textile design, or a related field.
· Proven experience of at least 5 years as a fashion designer, preferably with a focus on baby and kids garments.
· Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or similar tools.
· Strong artistic and creative skills with a keen eye for detail and a good sense of color, form, and proportion.
· Knowledge of garment construction, sewing techniques and pattern making for baby and kids garments. Also knowledge of various embellishment techniques used in baby and kids garments such as printing, embroidery etc. will be added advantage.
· Understanding of safety regulations and requirements for baby and kids garments.
· Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively convey design concepts and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
· Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
· Up-to-date knowledge of current fashion trends, children's fashion brands, and market demands.
· Passion for designing clothing that is not only fashionable but also comfortable, functional, and age-appropriate for babies and kids.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
