Assistant Director of Accounting
Job Description

The Role
• Supporting the Director of Accounting in overseeing the US accounting function
• Leading month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• Overseeing reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, and supporting schedules
• Reviewing financial statements and ensuring reporting is timely and accurate
• Ensuring accounting policies and processes comply with US GAAP
• Researching technical accounting matters and supporting the implementation of new guidance
• Leading audit preparation and managing external auditor requests
• Strengthening accounting policies, internal controls, and financial governance
• Managing, developing, and mentoring members of the accounting team
• Partnering with finance and wider business teams to improve accuracy and visibility
• Identifying opportunities to improve systems, reporting, and accounting processes
• Supporting strategic initiatives and ad hoc projects as the business grows
• Acting as a key accounting contact and providing cover for the Director of Accounting when required
Candidate Profile
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Big Four or top-tier public accounting experience strongly preferred
• CPA qualification preferred
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and accounting principles
• Experience leading close, financial reporting, audit, and internal-control processes
• Previous team-management or supervisory experience
• Experience in a complex, fast-growth, or larger corporate environment
• Excellent attention to detail and strong documentation standards
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to partner with senior stakeholders
• A proactive, hands-on leadership style
• The ability to introduce structure, improve processes, and challenge constructively
• Consumer goods, food and beverage, retail, or another inventory-based industry background would be beneficial
