The Army Familiarisation Program aims to provide secondary students with an exposure to a broad range of roles, careers and opportunities within the Army. This work experience activity provides an introduction to the Army Units located at Robertson Barracks and provides information on Army careers, capability and training procedures.
Robertson Barracks was established between1++0-1++8 and is the largest Defence base in the Northern Territory. It is home to the Australian Army’s 1st Brigade (1BDE) and supporting elements.
Students will participate in a variety of activities that demonstrate the different roles and the variety of careers available in the Defence. They will also have the opportunity to speak with personnel from a range of areas to gain information about their roles, careers and experiences in the Army. Students will also be given a presentation from Defence Force Recruiting on the recruiting process.
Once selected you will receive an information pack which will include an outline of the program and an evaluation form. On the first day of the program you will also receive an induction and be provided with a uniform to wear during the program. Lunch will be provided each day in the OR’s mess.
