Overview is seeking a talented Applications Software Engineer to join our innovative software engineering team. In this key role, you will be instrumental in developing user interface software that brings to life the advanced capabilities of our precision positioning systems and next-generation video and sensor platforms, including AI Edge processing.
Your work will directly contribute to creating market-leading, software-based solutions that enhance usability and differentiate our products in a competitive market. This role, whilst part of the software team, is a standalone role and will lead the development of user interface software and backend systems, including database interactions and routing logic. This role also involves enhancing product capabilities, improving usability, and maintaining and updating CI/CD pipelines to ensure continuous operational reliability.
Please note: Because of Overview's work in the Defence and Security domains, many roles are subject to security vetting processes such as BPSS and SC clearance. Candidates who already hold a relevant clearance may be able to transfer their clearance if successful. It is a requirement of this role that any applicant must be eligible for SC clearance, which requires a minimum of 5 years' residency in the UK, and may be affected by current or previous nationalities.
Key Responsibilities
Full life cycle development and implementation of user interface and application software.
Implementation of exciting UI concepts to enhance the Overview product offering.
Full life cycle development and implementation of advanced video processing platforms used within Overview’s portfolio of system solutions.
Work with the wider team to integrate and test UI with the rest of the system.
Definition of interfaces and integration with third-party subsystems.
Provide on-site and remote support to customers during system integration, trials, and demonstrations.
Maintaining and updating CI/CD pipelines to ensure continuous operational reliability.
Skills and Qualifications
Madatory:
Degree qualified in a relevant discipline.
4+ years of experience in full-stack software engineering.
Experience developing web applications for mobile and desktop.
Experienced in developing backend applications using Node.js.
Strong working knowledge of Typescript, JavaScript, React and Linux.
Experience with Gitlab CI/CD and docker runners.
Experience of working within a structured configuration control system and release process.
Experience in Agile working practices.
Excellent communication skills and fluency in English – both spoken and written, and experience of working in a multi-disciplinary engineering team.
Must be able to travel internationally and domestically as required with minimal restrictions or need for special travel authorisations.
5+ years of UK residency.
Preferred :
Experience of node.js, webRTC and HLS.
Experience across the full software development lifecycle.
Experience in designing secure web solutions.
Knowledge of video stream processing.
An understanding of or interest in the following domains: Sensor systems, Video processing systems, AI-based video analytics, Communication protocols.

Most of our interviews will take place over one or two stages, typically a phone/teams interview followed by a face-to-face interview on-site. We do ask all candidates who are coming to a face-to-face interview to carry out a short Psychometric assessment to help us understand how you tick!
