Analyst, Data & Strategy
Job Description
Agraga (Virya Logistics Technologies Pvt. Ltd.) · Mumbai · Full-Time · 0–3 Years
ABOUT THE COMPANY
Agraga is a digital cross-border freight forwarding company helping MSME exporters move cargo across borders — India to UAE, Singapore, UK, USA, and beyond. We manage end-to-end logistics across two entities (Agraga and Navexel), backed by institutional investors including Bajaj Finserv & IvyCap. We are building new initiatives for our exporter clients on top of a freight business that generates rich operational data — and we need the right person to make sense of it.
THE ROLE
This is not a reporting role. You are not here to pull numbers from a template every Monday. You are here to build the analytical infrastructure Agraga currently does not have — dashboards, data pipelines, and models used by the CFO, the CEO, and institutional investors during diligence.
You will work across three areas simultaneously.
Business Intelligence & Management Analytics
– Build and own dashboards for core business metrics — shipment volume, lane profitability, vendor TATs, customer retention
– Produce weekly and monthly reports for leadership and investors; translate data into clear narratives, not just tables
– Run ad-hoc analysis on strategic questions: which lanes are losing margin, which customers are churning, where are we leaving money on the table
– Support the CFO with financial modelling inputs, cohort analysis, and benchmarking for internal and investor use
Data Engineering — Tech & Product Collaboration
– Translate business questions into data capture requirements: what needs to be logged, structured, and made query-ready from our ERP (eFreight Suite) and CRM (Zoho Bigin)
– Work with engineers to define warehouse schema, event taxonomy, and pipeline architecture; own data quality standards upstream
– Identify data gaps, write validation logic, and flag ingestion errors before they corrupt downstream analysis
– Help the product team understand what data their features need to generate — at the spec stage, not after launch
New Initiatives & Strategy
– Build the analytical foundation for Agraga’s new initiatives — data signals, transaction patterns, exporter behaviour analysis
– Support investor data requests and due diligence packages; your work will be reviewed by institutional audiences
– Research competitor benchmarks, trade corridor trends, and MSME exporter segment data for strategic planning
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We will take a great fresher over a mediocre experienced hire. What we are looking for is not a year count — it is intellectual curiosity, precision, and a builder’s instinct.
– Education:
Tier 1 college — IIT, IIM, BITS Pilani, NIT, ISB, SRCC or equivalent; Engineering, Economics, Statistics, or MBA with a strong quantitative core
– Experience:
0–3 years; a great fresher will be considered ahead of an average experienced hire
– Technical — must have:
Strong SQL, Python (pandas), advanced Excel, data storytelling
– Technical — good to have:
Metabase / Looker / Power BI, dbt / Airflow, BigQuery or Snowflake, API basics
– Mindset:
First-principles thinker, detail-obsessed, proactive communicator, comfortable with ambiguity, builder mentality
What we care about more than tools: do you think before you query? Do you explain what numbers mean, not just what they are? Can you sit with ambiguity and still produce something useful?
WHAT YOU GET In 18–24 months, the person in this role will have built an analytics function from zero, collaborated directly with a CFO on investor-facing work, and had a hand in shaping new business initiatives. That is a career trajectory that takes 4–5 years to access at a large company.
– Competitive salary, discussed during the screening call
– Real ownership from day one — you will build infrastructure that does not exist yet, not maintain someone else’s spreadsheets
– Direct access to the CFO and Head of Product from week one — not filtered through layers
– Your work reviewed by institutional investors
– Involvement in new business initiatives at the design stage — rare at this career stage
– Fast-track growth: scope expands with performance, not tenure
REPORTING STRUCTURE
• Reports to the CFO, with a strong dotted line to the Head of Product & Technology.
