Job Description

Qualifications
Licensure: Must have an active Alaska RN license at the time of submittal
Experience: Case Management experience must be within the last 2 years
Immunization: Proof of flu vaccine required
Timeline: Start date will be a minimum of 6 weeks from the date fingerprint cards are received
Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program
Licensure: Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Alaska
Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) required
Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers high-quality, culturally sensitive, and patient-centered nursing care across the lifespan
Facilitate medical care and medication refills for Behavioural Health/Psychiatry patients, coordinating across physicians, pharmacies, and insurance providers
Gather relevant clinical information prior to prescriber visits
Conduct nursing evaluations, administer injections, perform lab collections, and coordinate care plans with primary and specialty providers
Deliver evidence-based mental health and substance use disorder (SUD) nursing care and case management for outpatients of all ages
Conduct brief patient contacts to educate, reinforce clinician directives, and identify additional nursing or case management needs
Clinical Judgment & Patient Care (Alaska BON-Aligned)
Perform and interpret comprehensive assessments; recognize and act on changes in patient condition
Exercise independent nursing judgment to determine actions, priorities, and escalation needs in accordance with Alaska Board of Nursing (BON) scope of practice
Develop, evaluate, and revise individualized care plans based on patient needs, preferences, and ethics rather than relying solely on standardized protocols
Safely administer medications and treatments per provider orders
Maintain accountability for clinical decisions, delegated tasks, and patient care outcomes
Care Coordination, Safety & Administration
Coordinate referrals, follow-ups, and overall continuity of care
Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
Adhere to regulatory, infection prevention, and safety standards; report adverse events, near misses, and unsafe conditions
Guide, delegate to, and mentor ancillary staff, peers, and students
Participate in quality improvement activities and float to other departments/assignments as required
