Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Advocate Legal Advisor with expertise in the sugar and ethanol industry, particularly in factory or distillery operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing legal guidance on industry-specific regulations, contracts, compliance, and dispute resolution to ensure smooth business operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Legal Compliance Regulatory Affairs:
• Ensure compliance with laws and regulations governing the sugar and ethanol industry.
• Keep updated on amendments in industrial, environmental, labor, excise, and taxation laws affecting the sector.
• Handle licensing, permits, and regulatory approvals required for operations.
• Assist in ensuring compliance with factory laws, pollution control norms, and ethanol blending policies.
Contract Management Documentation:
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts including supply agreements, vendor contracts, land leases, and MOUs.
• Ensure contract terms align with legal and business requirements.
• Handle legal documentation related to land acquisitions, plant expansions, and government subsidies.
Litigation Dispute Resolution:
• Represent the company in legal proceedings, arbitrations, and dispute resolutions.
• Liaise with external legal counsel for ongoing litigations.
• Manage labor disputes, commercial disagreements, and compliance-related cases.
• Ensure timely response to legal notices and regulatory queries.
Labor Employment Law Compliance:
• Ensure adherence to labor laws, Industrial Disputes Act, Factories Act, and Employee Welfare Laws.
• Provide legal support in handling disciplinary actions, employee grievances, and trade union negotiations.
Corporate Governance Risk Management:
• Identify legal risks and suggest mitigation strategies.
• Advise senior management on legal matters impacting business operations.
• Conduct legal due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures in the industry.
Qualifications Skills:
• LLB/LLM from a recognized university.
• 8-10 years of legal experience in the sugar and ethanol manufacturing sector (Factory/Distillery).
• Strong knowledge of industry-specific laws, including excise laws, environmental regulations, and factory acts.
• Experience in handling regulatory bodies, government agencies, and legal compliances.
• Expertise in contract drafting, dispute resolution, and labor law matters.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Ability to work with senior management and provide strategic legal advice.
Preferred Experience:
• Prior experience with sugar mills, ethanol distilleries, or agro-processing industries.
