About the role

It is the purpose of this role to provide culturally sensitive social, emotional, cultural and spiritual wellbeing support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with a mental illness, who are experiencing homelessness, including advice on aspects of assessment, treatment and recovery, and direct care co-ordination and support. The role also promotes and participates in community development that strengthens and builds the capacity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to support mental health and social emotional wellbeing.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

High level knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, protocols, and history, as well as demonstrated experience in engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Deliver culturally sensitive Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander support services within a large multidisciplinary mental health setting, under the direction and supervision of professional and line management.
Work within a Recovery framework to assist in meeting the individual needs of Indigenous people with a mental illness who may have a co-occurring substance abuse problem and who are homeless are at risk of homelessness.
