The purpose of the Health and Disability Commissioner (HDC) is to promote and protect health and disability services consumers' rights and to facilitate the fair and efficient resolution of complaints relating to infringement of those rights.

The Administration Support Lead plays a key role in the operational leadership of complaints resolution and investigations, with accountability for the timely and high-quality delivery of administrative support across the Operations Group. This role includes responsibility for achieving team targets, as well as managing and leading team performance.
The Operations Group is the primary business area of HDC and consists of two distinct functions: Complaints Resolution and Investigations. Each function is supported by a dedicated Administration Support team, which provides comprehensive administrative services to enable the effective delivery of their work.
While the Administration Support Lead reports directly to the Manager: Complaints Resolution, the role also works closely with the Manager: Investigations to ensure cohesive support across both functions. The Administration Support Lead is responsible for providing leadership, coaching, and day-to-day management to their team, including identifying and supporting the training and development needs of individual team members.

As part of the role, you will:
Provide critical oversight and end-to-end management of the administration process. Supported by the Intake Coordinator for technical guidance, the Administration Support Lead also serves as the people leader for Triage Officers, who are responsible for managing the triage process at HDC.
Engage closely with Legal Advisors and Operations Group Decision Makers to ensure quality and consistency.
Escalate appropriate High Risk and Sensitive matters to the appropriate stakeholder.
Lead the Admin Support Team through strong day-to-day leadership, embedding clear accountability and driving consistent performance.
We are looking for someone who can lead with confidence, bring clarity to the process and work collaboratively across multiple teams.

Strong Analytical Judgement: Ability to assess file quality and determine escalation methods based on established criteria.
Excellent Stakeholder Management: Ability to engage effectively across the organisation and with different departments.
Demonstrated people leadership skills, with the ability to effectively engage with team members and provide guidance, support, and accountability in a respectful and constructive way.
Awhe utu - Salary range
As part of our remuneration framework, the midpoint of the salary range for this position is $80,402, with the actual salary determined by skills and experience. Note: KiwiSaver / employer contribution is in additional to your base salary. We offer a range of benefits including:
