About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small but fast paced Human Resources team within the Human Resources and Communications Branch. We work in partnership with ACMA line areas to deliver strategic and operational workforce services that enable organisational capability.

The Human Resources (HR) Adviser within the Wellbeing and Workplace Relations team is responsible for supporting WHS and Rehabilitation Case Management matters including case management and project work, as required, including conducting research, planning and developing policies and developing procedures and guidelines to implement new initiatives across a range of work health and wellbeing issues.

There will be a strong focus on monitoring and maintaining legislative compliance and day-to-day activities to deliver work health safety initiatives and wellbeing programs. This role is also responsible for supporting case management, both compensable and non-compensable.

As the HR Adviser you will be required to:

Assist in the development and implementation of HR projects, policies, processes, guidance material, key business improvements and strategies relating to the delivery of HR services.
Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships, engaging with stakeholders on policy, project, or operational matters, and addressing their needs and expectations.
Make decisions and communicate effectively, using sound judgement and expertise, while adhering to legislation, regulations, best practices, and relevant operating instructions or procedures.
Assist ill or injured employees through a personalised case management approach, leveraging the expertise of rehabilitation providers as needed to promote optimal recovery and facilitate an early return to work.
Track and report on injury management and WHS issues, including injury trends, lead and lag indicators and recommend solutions to mitigate key risks, such as implementing early intervention strategies.
Provide accurate and specialised HR advice on people matters as well as HR departmental policies and procedures.
Partner with business areas to manage matters with expertise, sensitivity and discretion.
Review and update HR policies in line with legislation changes, best practice and business improvements.

Our ideal candidate

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual with:

experience in HR particularly, in WHS and/or performance and rehabilitation case management
strong organisational and administrative skills
strong collaboration, problem solving and communication skills
a passion for innovative practices, business improvement and delivering exceptional service to the agency
sound legislative knowledge relevant to WHS, rehabilitation case management and/or employee conditions
initiative, good judgement and a willingness to contribute to the strategic planning of work within the team
well-developed organisational skills, strong attention to detail and a sound analytical ability
strong oral and written communication skills, and the ability to foster relationships to deliver high quality advice, support to stakeholders and the broader team
ability to understand the needs of the business and provide solutions with a focus on outcomes and efficiency
qualifications in HR or relevant fields would be highly regarded.
