Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Professional with a strong background in payroll tax and processing.
The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of payroll tax compliance at both the employer and employee levels, as well as proficiency in relevant software and systems.
Key Qualifications:
• Payroll Tax Expertise: Solid knowledge of employer-level payroll tax, including quarterly tax returns, filings, exceptions, and setting up new accounts with various tax agencies.
• Payroll Processing: Proficient in payroll processing and tax knowledge at the employee level, including tax corrections and W-2Cs.
• Technical Skills: Intermediate proficiency in Excel (including VLOOKUPs, XLOOKUPs, and pivot tables).
• Large Company Experience: Proven experience in payroll tax and payroll processes within a large organization (10,000+ employees).
• ERP Systems Experience: Familiarity with ERP systems for Payroll/HR, particularly with ADP Smart Compliance.
• Deadline-Oriented: Ability to consistently meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy and thoroughness in all tasks.
• Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Remote Work Consideration: We are open to remote work arrangements for the right candidate.
• However, one position must be local to handle payroll tax mail collection and distribution.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct payroll tax reconciliation on a quarterly and annual basis.
• Process payroll tax payments and ensure compliance at both employer and employee levels.
• Maintain controls and compliance documentation for payroll taxes.
• Resolve agency notices and tax tracers, performing root cause analysis for timely resolutions.
• Assist in payroll tax GL reconciliations, ICC billing, and funding.
• Address employee tax escalations, providing reliable solutions to critical issues.
• Oversee payroll tax audits and support mergers and acquisitions from a payroll tax perspective.
• Identify process improvements and standardization to ensure ongoing tax compliance.
• Conduct quality assurance testing on payroll tax updates.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal and external business partners.
• Participate in payroll year-end processing, including W-2 and W-2C management.
• Communicate effectively with various levels of management to ensure a high level of customer support and positive interactions.
• Maintain compliance with all payroll regulatory and Client's requirements.
