Accessible Format Officer - Macquarie Park
Make a real difference working within our Accessible Information Service team as an entry level Accessible Format Officer to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people with vision and hearing loss.

This is a permanent full-time opportunity (38 hours per week) reports directly to the Manager, Accessible Information Service and will work onsite.
Job Description
What we can offer you:
Salary range of $67,846 to $80,248+ superannuation depending on experience, with 100% salary packaging to maximise your take home pay
Generous leave entitlements including 2 weeks paid Christmas leave in addition to 4 weeks annual leave, plus extensive personal/carer's leave
Paid parental leave of 14 weeks for primary carer and 6 weeks for secondary carer

As an entry-level role, there will be a strong focus on day-to-day professional development, providing opportunities to build skills, knowledge, and experience in the role.
This role will focus on the duties below:
Undertake a range of tasks within established policies, guidelines, and procedures.
Assist in transcribing and proofreading accessible materials (braille, large print, e-text) under supervision.
Support the production of tactile diagrams and accessible graphics following established standards.
Provide general information and assistance to staff and clients based on a broad knowledge of NextSense.
Assist senior staff with specific projects, including the preparation of accessible learning resources.
Participate in accessibility reviews of curriculum and assessment materials under guidance.
Learn to operate and perform basic maintenance on braille embossers and related equipment.
Liaise with colleagues, clients, and external stakeholders for identified purposes, under direction.
Desired Skills and Experience
About You:
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
Proficient knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive matters with tact.
Good organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
Willingness to learn relevant software tools, and skills for the production of accessible formats including:
Unified English Braille (UEB) code – training provided if not already completed.
OCR software.
Duxbury Systems
3D and UV printing methods
Awareness of accommodations required for blindness and low vision (training provided).
Other technology used in the production of accessible formats
Valid Working with Children Check and National Criminal Record Check (or willingness to obtain)
