We’re looking for an Able Seafarer Engine (ASE) to join the engineering team keeping our ferries running between Wellington and Picton.
If you take pride in good workmanship, enjoy practical problem solving, and don’t mind getting your hands dirty, you’ll fit right in.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll work alongside our engineers to keep the vessel’s machinery running safely and reliably.
Expect to:
Assist with maintenance and repairs on engines and auxiliary machinery
Carry out engine room rounds and readings
Support the watchkeeping engineer during operations
Operate pumps, valves, compressors and purifiers
Help prepare machinery during port layovers
Keep the engine room clean, organized and safe
Real work. Real machinery. No two days the same.
This is a live onboard position, 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off
What We’re Looking For
Someone who is:
Practical and mechanically minded
Reliable and safety focused
Comfortable working in a tight team environment
Happy to work at sea and take responsibility for their work
What You’ll Need
Able Seafarer Engine Certificate (STCW III/5)
STCW Basic Safety Training
Seafarer Medical (ENG1 or equivalent)
Good English communication skills
Valid NZ work rights
Experience on passenger or Ro-Pax vessels is a bonus, but not essential.
