JOB SUMMARY

The Business and Technical Support Services Branch is responsible for providing strategic, business, technical and other operational support services through a centralized branch that consolidates and streamlines the delivery of specialized business supports and services to an assigned department.

You plan, deliver and evaluate stakeholder engagement and communications’ events of low to moderate complexity/sensitivity/risk. You also support the planning, delivery and evaluation of highly complex/sensitive stakeholder engagement and communications’ events.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

4-year degree in Communications, Public Relations or other related field.

2 years of experience planning and managing stakeholder engagement and communications initiatives/events, of low to moderate complexity.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES
Valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver’s licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated
KNOWLEDGE
Stakeholder engagement and communications’ theories, practices and tools
Event planning and management practices, methods and techniques
Project management techniques
Budget forecasting and administration
The department’s mandate, programs, services and responsibilities
Relevant policies, guidelines, procedures at the Branch, departmental and corporate levels
Applicable legislation (e.g. the Fire Code, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act)
Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers
COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Organizational and time management skills
Research, analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong written and oral communication skills, and the ability to communicate with management and staff at various levels of the organization
Critical thinking skills
Ability to multi-task
Computer skills and ability to use the MS Office suite of applications
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Language Requirement: Designated Bilingual – specific level of language proficiency: French: oral, reading, writing English: oral, reading, writing Candidates who do not meet language requirements will be required to participate in training.
Driver’s License Requirement: A valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver’s license (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated
Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.
