Job Description

Save the Children’s global presence is huge. We want to enhance our reputation on an international platform, and work with our global colleagues to ensure our programs are the best they can be: consistent and effective. We need you to oversee our international awards and grants, supporting and training our teams to manage them effectively. Together, we can consolidate and deliver quality programs in Australia and internationally that support the most vulnerable children.

A place to make a difference:

In this full-time, permanent position, you will support the Humanitarian Team to deliver high-quality strategic projects on time and on budget, and support activities that build our profile in emergency response in Australia and the Pacific Region. You will be part of our International Programs Department and report to our Head of Humanitarian.

You will make a difference by:

Providing support to Pacific preparedness and response activities as well as humanitarian programming needs that arise globally.
Supporting in the implementation of preparedness capacity development plan for the Pacific.
Provide critical support to the Humanitarian team in times of crises and emergency response.
Coordinating and liaising with internal stakeholders to plan and implement the strategy for engaging in domestic disaster response.
Leading or supporting discrete projects, which may include, drafting design concept notes, project designs, budgets, workplans, proposals, evaluations, progress and final reports.

A place to feel valued:

You have a passion for quality and inclusive humanitarian response. Your country office focus demonstrates your great communication skills, and you can plan, manage and coordinate your workload to meet a broad variety of tasks and responsibilities. You thrive on a challenge, and you are committed to the mission and values of Save the Children.

This role requires:

Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, including report writing
Strong planning and analytical skills
Demonstrated ability to support projects across remotely located working environments
Degree in relevant field, such as International Development Studies
Familiarity of DFAT and/or the Australian Humanitarian Partnerships, in particular ability to draft proposals or reports for DFAT funding.

A place to belong:

We are diverse personalities, backgrounds and talents, embracing our differences as one strong and united team. We see and celebrate the unique value you bring to our organisation, and offer a range of rewards for your effort, including:

Opportunity to work on additional projects to enable you to stretch and feel connected to programs in a different way
Individual learning plans to help map and deliver on your career development.
A modern, up to date working space. Or the opportunity to work from home (WFH), or both!
Support for workplace wellness, including access to our free, confidential Employee Wellbeing Program
Celebrate and feel supported in your diversity. We’ve established internal networks to support our diverse workforce, foster inclusion and allow you to bring your whole self to work (if that’s what you want!) (Pride@Save, Parents and Carers@Save, Mental Wellness Alliance, Disability@Save, First Nations Advisory Committee).
