Ferrybank Colony School is seeking a dedicated classroom Educational Assistant to support and assist the teacher in a multi-grade classroom serving Kindergarten through Grade * students, with a primary focus on Kindergarten to Grade three.
The successful candidate will work closely with the classroom teacher to reinforce the skills being taught and guide students in small-group and one-on-one settings.
Assignment:
Full-time 1.0 FTE Educational Assistant position
Duties to commence as mutually agreed upon, dependent on the successful candidate
Qualifications and/or Assets:
Experience in multi-graded classrooms or colony school environments would be considered an asset
Experience in a colony school environment would be considered an asset
Excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
Ability to work with multiple students to support learning
A calm and patient approach to solving problems
Willingness to work collaboratively in a team-orientated environment
Experience and/or training as an Educational Assistant
Experience working with young English language learners would be considered an asset
Strong understanding of literacy learning (we use: Science of Reading and Jolly Phonics)
Strong work ethic and an ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to work with students of various academic abilities and behavioural needs
Experience working with Speech and Language programming (PUF) would be considered an asset
