This register is only open to ongoing Australian Public Service (APS) employees for permanent (at-level) and temporary (at level or with higher duties) section 26 transfer opportunities.

The role of the Department is to lead Australia's response to climate change and sustainable energy use, and protect our environment, heritage and water. Our vision is an Australia that is prosperous because it is sustainable, with community and Country at the heart of our actions.
We provide innovative and expert advice to the Australian Government grounded in science and evidence. We develop policy, deliver programs, manage assets, administer legislation, and regulate. We work collaboratively and in partnership with First Nations Peoples, communities, regions, industry, states and territories, other government departments and international partners to achieve outcomes for the environment, the economy, and all Australians. The work we do today, matters for tomorrow.
Our roles and functions are diverse. We work to:
develop and implement a national response to climate change and reduce Australia’s greenhouse gas emissions by supporting technological innovation in clean and renewable energy and environmental practices
support the affordable, reliable and secure supply of energy and competitive operation of energy markets for the Australian community
improve the energy efficiency, productivity and performance of Australian households and businesses
support stewardship and sustainable management of Australia’s environment and our unique heritage
advance Australia’s strategic, scientific and environmental interests in the Antarctic and Southern Ocean
support the sustainable management and productive use of Australia’s water resources

About the section 26 transfer register
We are looking for flexible, adaptable, professional ongoing APS employees to contribute to the Department’s work across a broad agenda. We are interested in individuals with expertise across all areas of the Department’s work, both policy and corporate management.
To help us in achieving our goals, we maintain a register of interested applicants to help us fill temporary and permanent vacancies. In the online application form, you will be able to express interest in roles from APS Level 1 to Executive Level 2 and the skillsets most closely aligned with your experience. Employment opportunities may be offered as temporary or permanent section 26 transfers depending on business needs and requirements.

Eligibility
APS employment - applicants to this register must be ongoing APS employees.
Citizenship - to be eligible for employment with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water you must be an Australian citizen.
Security Clearance - ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance to the appropriate level applicable to the position.
Pre-employment checks - your suitability for employment will be assessed through a pre-employment screening process. This process includes a requirement to undergo and satisfy a National Police Check, referee checks, character clearance and where required a pre-employment medical assessment, specified mandatory qualification(s) validation and a probation period.
