Job Description
Through the Canada Summer Jobs Program, Welland Heritage Council is providing an opportunity for a post-secondary student up to age 30 in accordance with program objectives to gain multicultural experience assisting with our programs.
Please note this position is full time at our office location in Welland, not remote.
MAIN DUTIES:
Plan and deliver program activities for secondary school age youth, focusing on connecting youth who are new to Canada with community volunteer opportunities, education and career information, and mental health initiatives.
Assist with reception area greeting walk-in clients and answering phone.
Maintain detailed records of all work.
Other duties as assigned.
Credentials Required
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be up to age 30 at time of employment
Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
Education related to international studies, psychology, social sciences or health care
REQUIREMENTS:
Excellent cultural sensitivity/appreciation of cultural diversity
Ability to support co-workers, enthusiastic and energetic team player
Excellent communication skills, includes writing, speaking, listening
Excellent digital skills and working knowledge of Adobe and Microsoft Office
Good organizational and interpersonal skills
Ability to create program activities for youth and work independently
Knowledge of local community resources
Second language an asset
Police Clearance
8 week contract, starting July 7, 2025 to August 2+, 2025
Work hours: Monday to Friday, 35 hours/week. Wage rate: $17.20/hr.
