Position Overview

STEM Canada is seeking an experienced VEX Robotics Instructor to lead and deliver our VEX Robotics programming for youth aged 10–17. The ideal candidate is a former VEX Robotics competitor or coach, highly familiar with VEX V5 or VEX IQ platforms, and passionate about mentoring young engineers in both competitive and creative robotics challenges.

Key Responsibilities

Design and deliver engaging VEX Robotics classes for elementary, middle, or high school students.
Prepare students for VEX Robotics Competitions (local, national, and international).
Develop customized lesson plans using VEXcode, RobotC, or other programming tools.
Guide students through robot design, building, coding, and testing.
Provide technical troubleshooting and hands-on support during build sessions.
Lead team collaboration, strategy development, and performance reviews.
Supervise and support students during tournaments and scrimmages.
Maintain robot kits, tools, and safety protocols.
Provide ongoing mentorship, feedback, and progress updates.
Qualifications

Proven experience in VEX Robotics competition (as competitor, mentor, or coach).
Strong knowledge of VEX V5, VEX IQ, and related programming languages (VEXcode, RobotC, Python).
Experience designing curriculum or teaching robotics/STEM in classroom or camp settings.
Exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to inspire, motivate, and guide students of varying skill levels.
Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
Post-secondary degree or diploma in engineering, computer science, or related field is an asset.
Experience mentoring competitive youth robotics teams is a strong asset.
Work Schedule

Flexible weekly hours depending on class schedule and competition season.
Occasional weekend classes or events may be required.
Requirements:

Vulnerable Sector police clearance check – A MUST within the last 12-months from date of issue.
Must be available asap
MUST be dependable and organized
Exhibit personal suitability and flexibility
Have exceptional interpersonal skills
Have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Previous online teaching experience would be an asset.
