About Us
Medilinx Biotech is on a mission to build compassionate technology that supports caregivers and empowers aging adults to live independently, safely, and with dignity. We’re a growing team building practical, human-first tools that make care simpler, not colder.
Role Overview
We’re looking for a UX Design Intern to help shape the user experience behind our products. You’ll work alongside product managers, engineers, and designers to understand user needs, define intuitive interaction flows, and ensure our interfaces are inclusive, accessible, and easy to use. This is a great opportunity to work on meaningful problems and design experiences that have a real impact on people’s lives.
What You'll Do
Conduct user research and synthesize insights
Design and refine wireframes, flows, and low-fi prototypes
Contribute to accessibility and usability best practices
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement features
Participate in team brainstorms, critiques, and user testing
Help document user journeys and interface decisions
What We’re Looking For
Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in UX Design, HCI, Psychology, Interaction Design, or a related field
Familiar with user-centered design principles and tools (e.g. Figma, Adobe XD, or similar)
Good communication skills and a thoughtful approach to design
Curious, empathetic, and open to feedback
Must be based in the Toronto / GTA area and able to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as needed
Who We're Looking For
We understand that within this field, competition among applicants is at an all-time high. We know that this can be discouraging to many talented individuals who never get the opportunity to develop and express their skills in a professional and cooperative environment. Because of these circumstances, we will iterate on what kinds of applicants we are looking for. We are NOT looking for 4.0 students, we are NOT looking for students who can program in binary, and we are NOT looking at where you went to/are going to school. We are looking to develop a team of exceptional individuals who are capable of setting realistic goals and doing everything in their power to reach them. We are looking for individuals with a strong sense of character. We are looking for individuals who can think effectively when faced with sudden and imminent challenges.
Bonus Points (Not Required)
Experience conducting interviews or usability testing
Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG)
Passion for inclusive or healthcare-focused design
Responsibilities
Collaborate with team members on ongoing development projects, providing support and input as needed.
Conduct research and analysis to inform project strategies and decisions.
Assist in the preparation of reports, presentations, and documentation related to project progress and outcomes.
Participate in team meetings, sharing ideas and updates on assigned tasks.
Help maintain project timelines and ensure deliverables are met efficiently.
Engage with stakeholders to gather feedback and insights that can enhance project effectiveness.
What We Offer
Hands-on experience shaping a real-world product
A collaborative, open team that values your contributions
The potential for financial incentives and full-time employment based on performance and fit
Flexibility in schedule and working style
A chance to build tech that truly helps people
How to Apply
Send your résumé (and optionally a short note or portfolio) to your email. We value initiative and genuine interest. Tell us why this mission matters to you, give us background on previous experiments, and link any projects you may have on your website or GitHub repository. Please refrain from submitting completely AI-generated applications as they will not be accepted. The length of your application is not indicative of your suitability for this position.
