STAFF ACCOUNTANT I – FINANCIAL REPORTING
The Staff Accountant I – Financial Reporting supports the financial reporting team by helping prepare all aspects of the annual audited financial statements for certain hedge funds and private equity funds including the corresponding checklists and responding to client and external auditor requests. This position will require regular interaction with team members and management. This role is a great opportunity to build experience in fund accounting and financial reporting, with guidance from senior team members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES
Preparing financial statements including balance sheet, income statement, statement of changes, cash flows, schedule of investments, and footnote disclosures including financial highlights;
Learn about the structure and operations of hedge funds and private equity funds under administration (legal structure, investment objective, fee structure, etc.);
Timely response to client and auditor inquiries, as required; with support from senior staff
Ensure timely and accurate completion of financial statements;
Support special projects as required;
PROBLEM RESOLUTION AND ADMINISTRATION
Ability to multi-task between different tasks and internal demands throughout the day with supervision.
Continually updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; internal company and team trainings; maintains personal networks; participates in professional development opportunities and;
Additional duties as assigned by management.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Sound knowledge of accounting principles, methods, procedures, internal controls with the ability to exercise good judgement in selecting and interpreting information;
Dedication and motivation to achieve high standards of client service and professional in the performance of duties;
Ability to organize and prioritize work, assisting in the coordination of the work of other team members as needed;
Sound computer and technical skills, including the use of MS Office Suite and other financial systems;
Ability to effectively provide team members and others with information and assistance as needed;
Ability to understand and carry out accounting procedures and analysis; preparation of work papers; knowledge of financial reporting;
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, which includes excellent time management skills;
Strong analytical skills with focus on accuracy and attention to detail;
Demonstrate sound research, interpretive and problem-solving abilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
0-1 years’ (relevant) experience in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred; (internships or entry-level roles are a plus).
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field;
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite;
Ability to multitask, time management, attention to detail, planning and problem-solving skills required;
Ability to communicate and interact professionally and effectively through written and oral communication with current and potential clients;
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
