Position Summary
The Senior Accountant is a key member of North America Accounting Team which provides accounting and reporting services for stakeholders throughout Canada and the US for Pernod Ricard.

The Senior Accountant will focus on Canadian reporting requirements including preparation of quarterly and annual IFRS financial statements, note disclosures for Corby Spirit and Wine Limited, a Canadian public company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange. The Senior Accountant works with a larger team and assists with the completion of regulatory filing requirements.

As part of the North America Accounting Ledger Team, the Senior Accountant, in partnership with various areas of the business and customer stakeholders, is a key contributor to the accuracy of financial information and financial reporting. A Senior Accountant possesses analytical and problem-solving skills and is detailed orientated. The Senior Accountant has an in-depth background in IFRS and Financial Reporting.

The Senior Accountant has a working level understanding of the business environment in which its business partners operate. They take contributor role in issue identification and will contribute to issue resolution. They have good working knowledge of internal controls, escalating identified issues to supervisory team.

The Senior Accountant is responsible for various aspects of the monthly and annual financial close cycle for both statutory and management general ledgers and assists in or prepares various monthly journal entries and reports.

The Senior Accountant will mentor other team members including CPA students.
Key Responsibilities
OHSA - Ensure compliance of Occupational Health Safety Act (section 25, 26, 27, and 28) per Hiram Walker Son’s Ltd Policy- Management-Supervision-Worker Safety
Key responsibilities related to the preparation of quarterly IFRS reporting for Corby Spirit and Wine:
Drafting quarterly financial statements and note disclosures, maintaining supporting work papers for compliance purposes,
Assisting with Management Discussion and Analysis documents and other quarterly filings including completeness of supporting work papers
Preparation of schedules and analysis for quarterly Audit Committee and Financial presentations
Monitoring compliance with IFRS and Canadian regulatory and reporting requirements.
Coordinates and performs certain aspects of the month-end close of statutory and management ledgers and meets prescribed deadlines including preparation of certain month end journal entries and adjustments and assigned account reconciliations
Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions; and resolving discrepancies.
Maintains compliance with internal control policies and procedures as they relate to financial information, account reconciliations, journal entries and records
Ability to work with Excel to analyze and interpret data and deliver complex reports on request from the business partner.
Assists with preparation and analysis of half year and year-end consolidated reporting packages including support documentation required for annual audit
Assists with accounting issue research – related to changes in business operations, accounting standard changes (IFRS) and other ad hoc request as they arise
Ad-hoc requests and special projects, as required
Required Skills Abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office, JD Edwards E1, Really Real Time (Insight software)
Internal Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) knowledge base
3+ years accounting experience in a similar environment
Must demonstrate high customer focus, step change innovation, the ability to make things happen and team building
Education
University Degree, Accounting/Finance or similar
Canadian or US CPA, or equivalent education and experience
