Job Title: Asylum Shelter Residential Aide
Location: NYC, Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan
Schedule: Flexible (Evenings, Weekends Holidays may be required)

As a Residential Aide at our Asylum Shelter, you will help create a secure and supportive environment for asylum seekers during a critical time in their lives. This is more than just a job—it’s an opportunity to provide peace of mind, structure, and compassion.
What You’ll Do
• Maintain a constant and watchful presence in living units, dormitories, and facility grounds to ensure a safe and respectful space for all residents.
• Enforce shelter safety policies with professionalism and empathy while upholding operational standards.
• Document daily activity logs, resident behavior, and engagement with accuracy and confidentiality.
• Conduct regular security rounds, monitor surveillance systems, and inspect incoming items to prevent safety threats.
• Support residents with dignity—answering questions, addressing concerns, and helping resolve conflicts.
• Collaborate with onsite security and staff to address urgent issues and uphold a peaceful environment.
• Prepare and clean resident spaces during transitions, ensuring belongings are handled respectfully and tagged properly.
• Respond quickly and appropriately to emergency situations or safety hazards.
What We’re Looking For
• Valid NYS Security Guard License
• Must have completed both the
• 8-hour pre-assignment
• and
• 16-hour on-the-job training
• .
• F-02 Certificate of Fitness (Fire Guard) required (or ability to obtain immediately).
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Clear communication skills—both written and verbal.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and think quickly in crisis situations.
• Previous experience in a shelter, group home, or residential care facility preferred.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries and follow privacy regulations (HIPAA knowledge is a plus).
• Flexibility with scheduling and a commitment to teamwork.
• Bilingual (Spanish, French, Creole or other languages) preferred
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.68 - $20.19 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
