Scenic Artist|Painter

FD Scene Changes Ltd. is seeking experienced Scenic Artists/Painters to build up our team at our shop in Calgary.

We are a specialty fabrication company with projects ranging from scenery for theatre, film and television and retail displays.

For this role, we are seeking skilled Artists who are trained in house/architectural painting and any theatrical training and experience would be considered an asset . The successful candidate(s) must be a team player with skills in several areas of painting, knowledge of colour theory, colour mixing, good drawing skills and should be familiar with many different products and applications. Candidates must read and speak English, be able to take direction and enjoy working independently and with others both in the shop and on site.

Duties include (but are not limited to): the preparation of paint surfaces; filling, sanding and staining; knowledge and ability to prepare many types of surface materials; base painting; priming; finishing skills including brush, roller and airless spray applications; knowledge of applying and sealing oil based and water based stains; knowledge of plastering, wall paper and vinyl hanging would be considered an asset.

The successful candidate(s) must be fit and agile as the position demands a very physical work load and long hours. They will be working at heights, climbing ladders and scaffolding. Lift tickets and fall protection would be an asset but we will train if they are not current.

This is a full time position and we are currently working 10 hour days and Saturdays.

-The wage range is $27.48-$2+.84 commensurate with experience.
