**Salesperson/Warehouse Manager/Tech-savvy All-Rounder with Gardening Expertise**
Victoria-based company has recently opened a new warehouse and retail showroom in Vancouver. We import garden tools and ladders from suppliers in Japan, The Netherlands and the UK and sell online, in person at our retail showrooms (Victoria Vancouver), at trade shows and horticulture-related events, and to select wholesale dealers.
We are looking for the right someone to work part-time at our new location in South Vancouver, someone with gardening experience and a particular interest in fine gardening tools and equipment.
The position requires an all-rounder who is happy filling varied roles. Primary responsibilities will be retail sales and warehouse management, along with helping us to build the retail side of the business through promotional efforts, social media, and networking. Our ecommerce site is based on a Shopify platform which is managed at HQ in Victoria; due to the physical distance between HQ and Vancouver, we require someone who is comfortable working independently, with strong computer skills and some experience using ecommerce sites.
The business started 6 years ago as a part-time off-shoot of my gardening business and related travels to the UK and has quickly grown over the past 4 years. Our Victoria showroom warehouse has been open since 2020 and is also HQ. We receive most shipments of garden tools in Victoria, but the 2-3 container loads of ladders that we import annually are received and stored at the Vancouver warehouse.
Initially this position will require three 5-hour shifts/week (Friday Saturday for sure), but we anticipate expanding the hours as the business grows. An ideal situation for a parent with kids at school who wants to work during school hours and/or someone who works part-time as a gardener.
• *Compensation**: Starting wage $30/hour plus commission. Medical and dental benefits. Wages negotiable based on relevant experience and qualifications.
• *Requirements**:
- Significant work experience in ornamental horticulture or food/flower farming.
- Retail sales experience, particularly in a small business environment.
- A keen interest in ornamental horticulture and fine gardening tools and equipment.
- Good working knowledge of how and when to use a wide variety of gardening tools.
- Strong computer skills and specific experience using Word Excel is required.
- Experience working with ecommerce sites required - it is a significant part of the job. Shopify experience is preferred.
- Basic proficiency with social media platforms, primarily Instagram and Facebook.
