We are looking for someone to join our Registration Records team in a full-time role, Monday-Friday, based at the County Register Office in Harrogate.


You will have experience of dealing with the general public, preferably in a front line service, with good communication and organisational skills and the ability to deal with clients from all backgrounds. The main tasks are issuing certificates ordered by customers, and inputting information to our registration systems.


You will also cover our Reception desk, dealing with customers to our busy Registration Office, as well as other general and clerical administration functions within the reception and wider registration team. Attention to detail, legible handwriting and IT/keyboard skills are therefore essential requirements of this post.


You will have contact with a wide range of people, including contact by telephone, e-mail and in person. As you will be undertaking reception duties, a good telephone manner and excellent communication and customer care skills, as well as a smart appearance, are crucial.


This is an exciting opportunity and would be an ideal role for someone who is a team player, enjoys working with the public and is a confident speaker.


After initial training is complete, you will also be trained as a Ceremonies Registrar and have the opportunity to deliver the registration of marriages, civil partnerships and other non-statutory ceremonies within North Yorkshire, playing a fundamental part in these important and joyous occasions. In addition to your normal hours, you have the opportunity to work weekends/Bank Holidays on the weekend ceremony rota.
