This posting is for multiple vacancies: one (1) permanent part-time (60 hours biweekly), one (1) part-time term (60 hours biweekly) until January 2, 2026, one (1) casual until July 5, 2025, and two (2) AOC positions. This posting will also be used for future full-time and part-time anticipatory permanent, term and AOC and casual vacancies within Continuing Care.
The job is based in the thriving and diverse city of Whitehorse in the beautiful Yukon.

This opportunity
Reporting to the Supervisor of Therapeutic Services, this position assists in providing goal-oriented programs and services that are tailored to meet the leisure-related needs of residents/clients to achieve the desired quality of life outcomes, as directed by the Recreation Therapist.

Essential Qualifications
Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. Selections for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.
Education in a relevant field, such as a Recreational Therapy Assistant Diploma, or a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Psychology, or Education
Recent and relevant experience supporting the implementation of recreational programs
Candidates who have training and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be considered.

Desired knowledge, skills and suitability
If selected for an interview, candidates should have, and may be assessed on, the following:
Person-centered practices
Adaptive strategies for accommodating residents with limitations
Group facilitation techniques
Safe body mechanics while supporting residents to mobilize in-house and on outings
Pathology of a variety of disease processes including various dementias
Implementation of recreation therapist directed care plans

You must meet the following conditions before being hired or within the time frame noted:
TB screening
RCMP Security Clearance with Vulnerable Sector
WHIMIS 2015
Standard First Aid and CPR C with AED
Food Safe
Valid class 4 driver's licence
Job requirements
This job requires you to perform, and/or be exposed to, the following:
Loading, unloading, and transporting residents on the bus, including securing wheelchairs.
Driving a bus
Bending, stretching, reaching
Lifting up to 30 lbs
Exposure to animals, exposure to second hand smoke and other irritants
