Salary: $6,023 – 6,275 – 6,536 – 6,807 – 7,086/month (2024 Rates)

Schedule: 80 hours bi-weekly; Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

This is recreational programming work responsible for planning, developing, scheduling, coordinating, and implementing a variety of specified recreational, social and cultural programs. The work involves hiring, training and supervising program staff, establishing and maintaining liaison with community groups, the general public and a variety of internal and external contacts, promoting and publicizing interest and participation in program activities and assisting in the preparation and monitoring of program budgets. As a Recreation Programmer, you will also prepare and maintain records, reports and correspondence related to the work. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include graduation from a community college in a related field, plus sound related experience including some supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Sound knowledge of the recreational interests, needs and resources of the community served; the policies, procedures, rules, and regulations governing the work performed; teaching methods and group leadership techniques related to the work. Ability to assist in planning, developing, scheduling, coordinating, and implementing outdoor sports recreational programs and events which meet the needs and interests of the community served; establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of external and internal contacts and to promote public interest and participation in programs; present ideas and viewpoints effectively both verbally and in writing. A valid Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia is required. Please note that a Police Information Check may be required for this position.
