What's the job?
At Intergroup, our Waste/ Enviro Division specializes in the safe and compliant management of hazardous and liquid wastes. With advanced processing facilities and specialized transport for Dangerous Goods, we uphold rigorous standards in waste disposal.

Join our team as a Production Technician, where you'll report to the Operations Lead. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring the safe handling and disposal of liquid and hazardous wastes. This includes operating a forklift to load and unload waste from trucks, as well as moving packaged waste throughout the yard for treatment and storage. In addition to forklift duties, there is a key responsibility of processing waste within a shed using excavators. As a hazardous waste technician, you will be responsible for the treatment and management of a variety of waste types, ensuring that all processes are carried out correctly and in compliance with safety regulations. You will take the lead in maintaining a safe, healthy, and efficient operation within the facility.

This role is a fixed term role which will be based in East Tamaki.

Desirable qualifications you'll need includes:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field.
2+ years of expertise in waste classification/management, treatment methods (neutralization, stabilization, oxidation), and safe storage/handling of hazardous substances.
Experience working with plant and equipment.

Skills Required:

Equipment Processes – Experience operating waste treatment systems (chemical dosing, pumps, scrubbers) and knowledge of chemical reactions for waste processing.
Compliance Safety – Familiarity with hazardous waste regulations, proper documentation, risk assessments, and emergency response procedures
Soft Skills Work Ethic – Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, effective communication, teamwork, and commitment to workplace safety.
