Are you passionate about supporting young people in their transition to adulthood? Do you have the skills and dedication to provide guidance and advice to help them achieve their goals? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Personal Advisor at West Berkshire Council.
The Role
As a Personal Advisor, you will work closely with the Team Manager to deliver high-quality support and advice to young people aged 16-25 who are leaving care. Your main responsibilities will include:
Building positive relationships with young people, ensuring their individual needs are understood and met
Providing advice and guidance on a range of issues, including education, employment, housing, and personal development
Supporting young people in accessing appropriate services and opportunities
Encouraging and enabling young people to take responsibility for their own lives and make informed choices
Working collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to ensure holistic support is provided
Attending meetings and reviews, advocating on behalf of young people when necessary
The Ideal Candidate
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following skills and attributes:
A genuine passion for supporting young people and helping them achieve their potential
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust
Strong organisational and time management abilities, with the capacity to manage a diverse caseload
Knowledge and understanding of the challenges faced by young people leaving care
Experience working in a similar role or within a relevant field
The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
This role is fixed term for two years - funding limited project
