Painting Manager
The Painting Manager will be responsible for leading a team in preparing, painting, and finishing various types of vessels to meet industry standards and customer specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience in marine painting techniques, possess strong attention to detail, demonstrate leadership principles and values, and be proficient in using painting equipment and materials.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• The Manager will oversee all painting and coating-related activities, including grit blasting, surface preparation, and mixing and applying various types of marine-grade primers and paints. The Supervisor will ensure the quality of work, proper material application, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Use spray guns, brushes, and rollers to apply marine coatings, including epoxy, enamel, and anti-corrosive paints.
• Ensure proper mixing and application of paints according to manufacturer guidelines and project requirements.
• Perform quality inspections to verify adhesion, coverage, and finish consistency.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including proper handling and disposal of painting materials and waste.
• Collaborate with other shipyard personnel, including welders, fabricators, and supervisors, to coordinate painting activities and meet project timelines.
• Follow established safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Complete required documentation, including work orders, inspection reports, and material usage records.
• 10+ years of experience in the Marine industry
• Marine shipyard offshore or salvage experience preferred
• Proficiency in surface preparation techniques, i.e., sandblasting, scraping, and chemical cleaning.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Valid certifications in painting and coating application (e.g., SSPC, NACE) preferred.
