Responsibilities
Incumbent must possess and utilize the following skills and knowledge while performing duties of journeyman painter
Tasks involve repetitive movement and may be assigned based on specialized skill levels
Incumbent must have the ability to follow oral instructions and to work with others in a team effort
Preparing and applying coating materials on wood, metal, concrete, synthetic and other surfaces utilizing standard and special methods of the painting trade
Applies finishes with brushes, rollers, spray paint units (electrostatic, general applicators), and other related methods and techniques
Painting is accomplished both inside and outside of buildings, equipment, furnishings, machinery and other surfaces
As part of the paint operation erects riggings, staging, and scaffolding
Incumbent replaces glass and glazing, paints signs, markings, and other functions requiring skills in lettering
Plans and lays out work, selects tools, trade devices, materials and the necessary equipment to accomplish the assigned task ensuring that acceptable trade standards are met
Incumbent measures and calculates the quantity of wall covering needed for a wallcovering task
Ensures that the surface is properly prepared and selects the proper tools and equipment needed to build up, shape and level the surfaces
Incumbent must be knowledgeable in the use of metals, synthetic resins, plastics and patching compounds, pumice and rottenstone for evening out dents and scares in the surfaces to be covered
Incumbent applies adhesives required in the hanging of wall covering, ensuring that acceptable trade standards are adhered too
Maintains all tools and equipment in first class condition
Ensures that tools and equipment are safe guarded at all times when working around patients, staff, and visitors
Incumbent must have the ability to follow verbal instructions received from the team supervisor and perform work assignments according to established procedures
Must be ale to detect faulty operations of the equipment and report any problems to the team leader
Incumbent is part of the snow removal team and may be utilized during inclement weather as needed
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm

Duties of a journeyman painter worker include, but are not limited to:
