Job Responsibilities:
General
1.
Taking over the duty in each shift at the bed side
2.
Taking care of daily inventory
3.
Controlling theft / pilferage and breakages
4.
Checking up dressing trolley, medicine trolley, emergency trays and kits
5.
Preparing gauze pieces, swabs, cotton pads and other trays for autoclave
6.
Accompanying serious patients for investigations.
7.
On receiving the new admission, as per policy, staff nurse shall immediately attend on the patient herself and see, if any, emergency treatment and attention such as Oxygen, change in patients position is required, this should be carried out at once.
8.
Biomedical Waste Management policy needs to be strictly followed.

Ensure with RMO or In charges in case of any doubt regarding any Hospital protocols.
10.
Should be always ready for any emergency calls or for camps outside.
11.
Should follow the instructions of Superior and perform their duty as per the requirements of the hospital
Patient's Care (Comprehensive Nursing Care)
12. To keep the moral of patient high.
13. To be responsible for patient's personal hygiene, mouth wash, sponge / bath, short nails and changing sides.
14. To ensure neatness of patient's bed, clean clothes and combed hair.
15. To give routine medicines and injections and to carry out the other current and stat. orders.
16. To provide I.V lines and canula care properly
17. To send the investigation request on time and collect the reports of investigation and record them.
18. To dispose off the used needles, I.V. sets and Syringes immediately after use. Do not leave the spirit swabs, Syringes, empty ampules and bottles / patient’s bed side locker.
1+. To check 4 hourly vitals as well as intake and output in all patients or as per the condition of the patient.
20. To encourage patients for post operative breathing, coughing and movements and help the patients for the exercise as per the doctors instruction.
21. To give Ryles tube feeding according to doctors instruction.
22. To give enema /bowel wash with the help of the Ward Boy / Ayah but ultimate responsibility is of yours
23. Special care to be given to patients with catheter, drains and I.V lines.
24. Special care to be taken by the staff for infectious diseases
25. Strictly follow the protocol of isolation for infected patients e.g. MRSA, Open koch,/ TB
Record and Report
26. The Staff Nurse is responsible for administration of all treatment prescribed by the Consultant / Resident Medical Officer (including medicines, injections and other therapeutic procedure to patients under her charge. She must ensure :-
27. To record all necessary observation regarding vitats, intake and output.
28. To record any irregularity noted and inform to Resident Medical Officer. Note the time of information in observation and remark column.
2+. To chart special nursing procedures e.g. enema, its result, Ryles tube feeds, retained / vomited.
30. To prepare the total report about the patient, of any accident / injury occur to the patient, the finding and treatment given by the Doctor should be recorded. The change of patient's condition should immediately be informed to the Doctor with definite time and action taken.
31. To enter admissions and discharge in the Register.
32. To enter all Deaths in the Death Register.
33. To dispatch all case sheets to the Medical Record Room after entering the name and C.R. Number of the patient on every sheet.
34. To record C.S.S.D. exchange.
35. To maintain record of replacement of items used for Patients.
36. Record all the procedures and diagnostic procedures in Service /Account Sheet.
