About the Role

As an Operations Specialist Communicable Disease, you will provide high quality and timely advice to support, maintain and improve the operational delivery of the communicable disease functions and the management of responses to ‘all hazard all threats' programmes.

Your work will support the delivery of complex pieces of work, across the diverse communicable disease environment of the NPHS and drive continuous improvement in processes and practices within the team.

The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. About you

You are able to draw on previous experience working within an operational setting and are able to develop and execute operational tasks. You have experience and understanding of communicable diseases and case and contact management. You are able to apply critical thinking and the use of sound judgement to develop options and provide advice.

A relevant graduate qualification (desirable), or 4+ years appropriate equivalent experience
Experience in designing and implementing processes and systems
Well-developed analytical skills with attention to detail, ability to map out a process, review quality and apply a continuous improvement lens across workflow
Strong analytical skills combined with an ability to quickly assimilate new information, and to communicate complex issues clearly and concisely with a range of audiences
Developed organisational skills with the ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality
Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to tailor complex messages to a range of audiences
An ability to navigate and become an advanced user of technology systems including the Notifiable Disease Management System
Advanced computer literacy in Microsoft Office 365 applications
Experience in managing risk and the ability to make clear decisions on when to report upwards
