We're Hiring: EA4 – Occupational Therapist Assistant

Sturgeon Public Schools is currently seeking a Full-Time Permanent EA4 – Occupational Therapist Assistant to join Namao starting August 27, 2025.

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist to support early childhood programming as part of Specialized Programming. This role focuses on extending the services of the therapist by assisting students and teachers in addressing needs that impact classroom participation.

We are looking for a motivated individual who enjoys working with children and youth with developmental disabilities, including complex physical, cognitive, and neurodevelopmental profiles.

What You'll Do:

Implement therapeutic activities and program plans developed by Occupational Therapists for individuals and groups
Provide regular updates to the supervising therapist
Collaborate with teachers, Educational Assistants, Learning Support Leads, therapists, and other SPS staff to meet diverse student needs
Develop materials to support a variety of strategies and programs
Maintain detailed notes and records on student progress and response to interventions through contact notes, progress reports, and observations
Perform regular checks and basic maintenance of equipment; organize and clean materials
Stay current with best practices and maintain credentials through ongoing professional development
What You Bring:
A certificate or diploma as an Occupational Therapy Assistant or Occupational/Physical Therapy Assistant
Experience supporting Specialized Programming in a school setting
Minimum two years of related professional experience
Proficiency with technology (Microsoft Office, apps, etc.)
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
Capacity to incorporate feedback, manage priorities, and maintain confidentiality
Understanding of school/division policies and Alberta Education guidelines
Clear Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check
Position Details:
Type: Full-Time Permanent
Hours: 35 hours per week
Hourly Rate: $28.10 – $34.04/hour (as per CUPE Collective Agreement)
Location: Namao School
