Job Title: Occupational Health Safety Specialist
Location: North/South

Supervisor: EHS Manager
Summary:
The Occupational Health Safety Safety Specialist is responsible for assisting and organizing the administration and maintenance of safety/health and loss control programs, to minimize the frequency and severity of accidents and injuries. The Occupational Health Safety Specialist works with all departments on safety and loss prevention programs.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Establish safe practices in alignment with company commitments, policies, and compliance requirements.
Drive continuous improvement in the facility's safety monitoring and recordkeeping systems to ensure compliance with all AbiMar policies and federal regulatory requirements.
Serves as a resource on health matters, reviewing such items as physicians' reports on employee health, workers' compensation insurance claims, and medical restrictions on employee work.
Assists employees who are injured or become ill at work.
Provide First aid and CPR when necessary
Arranges for and schedules audiometric testing, establishing baseline data and performing annual follow-up testing.
Establishes and maintains medical records, incident investigation reports, and inspection records.
Evaluate and determine appropriate proactive safety strategies for projects that may impact existing facilities or employees.
Develop action plans for safety activities, coordinate plant Safety Squad team, perform follow-up on these activities, and report status to the EHS Manager.
Conduct safety training for all plant personnel (Behavior Based Safety, Confined Space, Incident Case Management, Hazard Recognition, and others as needed). Ensure compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and programs.
Serve as training expert for all AbiMar Safety-related training.
Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work area at all times
Communicate effectively (verbal and written) with all contacts
Accept and adapt easily to change
Ensure that all activities are consistent with the Company Mission Statement
Operate job-related equipment with or without accommodation

Experience
Bachelor's degree preferred and/or a combination of education and relevant experience
Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience and/or EMT certification
3 or more years of experience in a safety role, manufacturing setting preferred.
Working knowledge of state and federal safety laws.
Medium knowledge of environmental regulations.
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to use a variety of software applications to analyze, monitor data, conduct reports, and presentations.
Prior Safety Specific Training (OSHA 30 Hour, Confined Space, etc.).
