Location: Bishopsgate Police station, although relocating to Salisbury Square HQ 2027

Salary: £30,190 to £34,140 per annum, plus London Weighting £6,710 per annum

Statement of expectation for the role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a position within the Major Incident Room (MIR) based at Bishopsgate.

The successful applicant will be expected to Index and Register material on complex economic crime investigations and Major Investigations.

This is a challenging and responsible role to ensure effective investigation and adhere to disclosure requirements, as you would expect, teamwork, communication, commitment and computer skills are highly desirable qualities.

The applicant will also be involved in the activation and operational requirement for Major Incidents working within the Casualty Bureau.

The successful post holder will report to a Detective Sergeant and have the opportunity to receive training to complete the above and be expected to work extended hours when required.

Description of Department:

The Major Investigation Resource is split into two services, traditional Major Crime and complex Economic Crime.

The HOLMES Indexer for economic crime will be responsible for the registration and indexing of material and assist the dedicated disclosure officers for the National Lead Fraud and Economic Crime investigations.

The department uses HOLMES to manage material which significantly reduces the risk of disclosure issues.

The role will be expected to assist and work on traditional Major Crime and Major Incident activations as and when expected.

Skills

Skilled in the use of specialist IT packages, systems and/or databases to fulfil role requirements. Able to break down a complex problem into component parts and determine appropriate action in investigations.
Ability to work effectively in a team to achieve shared objectives, demonstrating awareness of individual differences and providing support and advice as required.
Able to review own performance objectively and to develop and follow an appropriate improvement plan.
Able to appropriately prioritise and plan own work.
Able to proactively develop effective working relationships with colleagues, partners and other stakeholders.
Able to produce clear and concise reports and other documents within best practice procedures.
Knowledge

Knowledge of local and national guidance and legislation relating to the role.
Knowledge of the investigative process and any changes to local and national guidance and legislation relating to investigation.
Experience (desired)

Knowledge of the Major Incident Room Standardised Administration Procedures (MIRSAP).
Working knowledge of the HOLMES2 system (but training provided.)
The application and interview will be tested under Level 1 of the College of Policing Competency and Values Framework
