Conduct and analyze a variety of laboratory tests and procedures related to microbiology, including but not limited to cultures, stains, and microscopy.
Maintain accurate and detailed records of all tests performed, ensuring compliance with laboratory regulations and protocols.
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise.
Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to ensure timely and accurate delivery of test results.
Follow strict safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Keep up-to-date with the latest advancements and developments in microbiology and incorporate them into daily laboratory practices.
Provide guidance and support to other laboratory staff, including training new employees and students.
Identify and report any abnormal or unexpected results to the appropriate personnel.
Participate in quality assurance activities and maintain proficiency in all laboratory procedures.
Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals regarding test results and any necessary follow-up.
Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
Continuously evaluate and improve laboratory processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Assist with inventory management and ordering of necessary supplies.
Attend relevant training and continuing education programs to stay current with industry standards.
Represent Piedmont Healthcare in a professional and positive manner at all times.
