Job Overview
I am seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Biller to work as an independent contractor for my small massage practice. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing billing processes, ensuring accurate coding, and facilitating timely medical collections. This role is essential in maintaining the financial health of our medical practice while ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
Duties
Review and process patient accounts for billing accuracy and completeness.
Utilize coding systems including ICD-+ and ICD-10 to assign appropriate diagnosis codes.
Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies and follow up on unpaid claims.
Manage medical collections by contacting patients regarding outstanding balances.
Maintain detailed records of billing transactions and patient interactions.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve any discrepancies in billing or coding.
Stay updated on changes in medical terminology, coding practices, and regulations affecting billing processes.
Experience
Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
Proficiency in medical billing software and systems is essential.
Knowledge of DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) coding and medical terminology is a plus.
Familiarity with medical collection processes and best practices.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are required to manage multiple accounts effectively.
