Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Manager, Sports Marketing, Communications Fan Experience is responsible for overseeing and managing the strategic planning, implementation, and coordination of all athletic communications and marketing, media relations, and events related to the Department of Athletics and Recreation.
The incumbent will manage the development and execution of marketing and communications strategies to strengthen and promote the Mountaineer athletics brand. This shall include advertising, promotion, branding, electronic communications, annual marketing and communications tools, marketing research and analysis, and recommendations regarding product and service development within the Department. The incumbent will take a leadership role in overseeing all aspects of athletic media relations and communications, ensuring consistent messaging across multiple platforms.
In addition, the incumbent will manage all traditional game day sports information operations, including the production of marketing materials, coordinating photography, handling in-game and post-game score and statistical updates, managing live stream broadcasts, and overseeing post-game videos and recaps. The incumbent will also manage the coordination of resources and staff involved in these operations, ensuring smooth execution and optimal media exposure for Mountaineer athletics.
What you’ll be doing:
Digital Content Sports Information
Oversees the strategic planning, production, and distribution of all athletic publications, including game programs, media guides, weekly releases, game recaps, and feature stories.
Provides leadership in the ongoing development and maintenance of the athletic department’s website.
Manages the execution of all digital video content for online platforms, including digital media guides, preseason features, game highlights, post-game recaps, and promotional shorts.
Directs the compilation, accuracy, and dissemination of official statistics, rosters, and results for all varsity sports.
Verifies and submits official rosters and statistical data to CCAA and OCAA, and coordinates the nomination process for weekly and seasonal conference awards.
Acts as the primary liaison with media outlets, conference offices, and peer institutions, ensuring timely and accurate responses to information and interview requests.
Provides strategic oversight of all athletic department social media channels, ensuring consistent branding, timely updates, and engagement with key audiences.
Leads the student-athlete recognition and awards process, including the identification and nomination of candidates for conference and national honours.
Serves as an active member of the Mohawk Varsity Hall of Fame committee, contributing to the selection and celebration of distinguished athletic achievements.
Use analytical skills to perform detailed analyses to assess effectiveness of email, website and social media as communications tools for connecting with key stakeholders and students.
Manages staffing of all sports information and game day staff, including score table staff, photographers and videographers for home games.
Marketing, Communication Social Media
Leads the development and execution of a comprehensive digital marketing and communications strategy for Mohawk Athletics, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and objectives.
Oversees the tracking and analysis of consumer engagement across all media platforms, using insights to develop targeted marketing plans and initiatives.
In partnership with the Director of Athletics, devises and implements promotional strategies aimed at increasing attendance at intercollegiate games, with a focus on engaging students, staff, and the broader Mohawk community.
Manages advertising and promotional efforts for the David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre, including internal and external campaigns for varsity games, athletic facilities, tournaments, and special events.
Oversees the creation of online publications, sport programs, yearbooks, newsletters, and coordinates recruitment event attendance.
Serves as the primary communications liaison on the host committee for national and provincial tournaments, ensuring seamless media relations and managing all media and communications efforts for these events.
Manage the distribution of press releases, newsletters, media kits, and internal communication materials.
Manage live coverage of games, events and behind-the-scenes moments on multiple social platforms, including photography, video production, graphic design and storytelling.
Game Day Events
Lead planning and execution of game day operations, fan engagement, and in-venue experiences.
Work in close contact with the Manager, Athletics and Recreation in the David Braley Athletic Recreation Centre to plan and execute game days and other events.
Manage event logistics, promotions for sports events and community outreach.
Manage VIP experiences, media access and hospitality arrangements.
Ensure seamless integration of sponsor activations and marketing materials on-site.
Collaborate with other College Departments to develop and execute theme nights for game days and other partnerships to help expand and grow the Mountaineer brand.
Act as a liaison between the Department and College’s Broadcast Program or other entity supporting the Mountaineer Sports Network live streams.
Provide experiential learning experiences for students through sport information, game day, and broadcast production.
Management of Others
Manages the scheduling and performance of all staff and student staff involved in sports information, including game-day photographers and videographers, as well as all game day staff including table statistics staff, sweepers and additional support.
Meets all supervisor obligations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act and supports continuous improvement of health and safety and equity, diversity and inclusion at Mohawk College.

What you’ll bring to the role:
3 year diploma in a relevant field of study with an emphasis on Sports Marketing, Creative Advertising, Communications, Marketing or equivalent.
5 years of hands-on experience planning and managing a sport tournament or major event (e.g., provincial or national championship tournament) in a Sport Information, Marketing, Communication and/or Media role
Experience in managing staff, interns, volunteers in a fast-paced environment
Experience in developing and executing marketing campaigns – especially in digital, print, and social media formats
Experience coordinating live streams, interviews or highlight reels
Excellent oral and interpersonal skills when dealing with the public
Advanced computer skills with respect to design and creative publications and materials
Demonstrated experience coordinating a sport event video and photography
Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Lightroom, InDesign, Premiere Pro)
Content Management System (SIDEARM Sports, PrestoSports, or something similar)
Knowledge of HTM/CSS, SEO, and Web Analytics (e.g., Google Analytics)
Basic Photography and Videography skills
Superior writing ability, excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
First Aid, CPR Training
Social Media Management Tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social)
Valid Driver’s License
Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
