Job description
Position: Maintenance Worker - FT Inn Conference Centre
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Worker is responsible for completing daily maintenance tasks in guest rooms and throughout the hotel to ensure high standards of hospitality. The role involves inspecting, maintaining, and repairing mechanical, electrical, and other equipment affecting guest experience, with a focus on safety, security, and asset protection. Maintenance duties include lawn and garden care, snow and ice removal, and responding to urgent work orders.
Flexibility to work shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Follow all maintenance Standard Operating Procedures.
• Perform repairs in guest rooms to maintain safety and comfort.
• Complete urgent work orders to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Provide repairs including troubleshooting electronic locks, repairing fixtures, furniture, windows, and hardware, and replacing amenities and safety devices.
• Test and maintain equipment such as smoke detectors, televisions, air conditioning, and telephones.
• Deliver high-quality customer service by responding promptly and courteously to requests.
• Maintain public areas and hotel departments by identifying maintenance needs and keeping systems operational.
• Inspect fire safety equipment and systems regularly.
• Ensure safety and proper operation of tools and equipment.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance requests and completions.
• Perform groundskeeping tasks such as shoveling sidewalks, mowing, and maintaining flower beds.
• Monitor and operate building systems like HVAC.
• Respond to guest inquiries about hotel facilities and local events.
• Communicate effectively with staff and guests, ensuring needs are met and followed up on.
• Adhere to hotel security, safety policies, and emergency procedures.
• Keep the maintenance shop, guest rooms, and public areas clean and organized.
• Report significant issues to supervisors promptly.
• Participate in preventive maintenance programs and keep detailed records.
• Coordinate with housekeeping and front desk regarding room status.
• Address customer concerns professionally and promptly.
• Follow all hotel standards and other duties as assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Education:
High School diploma; hospitality training is a plus.
Experience:
5+ years in maintenance; 1-2 years in hospitality preferred.
Skills include conflict resolution, confidentiality, positive attitude, versatility, teamwork, quality management, cost consciousness, ethics, organizational support, planning, professionalism, safety awareness, punctuality, dependability, initiative, innovation, communication, physical stamina, and adaptability to various environments.
Physical demands involve lifting up to 50 lbs regularly and occasional lifts up to 100 lbs. The work environment varies from office to mechanical rooms, guest areas, and outdoor spaces, with exposure to noise, chemicals, heights, and natural elements.
