Loan Officer - 30 hrs per week
1. Reporting Line:
Reporting to the West Cheshire Credit Union CEO
2. Job Summary:
To accept and review loan applications from existing and new members in line with West Cheshire Credit Union Loan Policy. Review and respond to applicants in a timely manner
3. Staff Responsibility:
a) This role has no direct responsibility for staff
4. Key Responsibilities:
a) Input relevant applicants details on to the West Cheshire Credit Union operating system (Custom).
b) Ensure members details are up to date and compliant with any necessary legislation such as Anti Money Laundering Regulations.
c) Review applicants financial standing to assess affordability of repayments.
d) Make decisions within the published West Cheshire Credit Union service delivery times.
e) Calculate applicants’ overall indebtedness to other lenders.
f) Perform three-way telephone, or face to face access to HMRC for new Family Loan Members
g) Review income and expenditure using a variety of sources, such as hard copy bank statements or Open Banking
h) Work with the Loan Services Administrator to gather the necessary information required to respond to applications in a timely manner.
i) Comply with laws and regulations of the PRA / FCA and adhere to lending compliance guidelines
j) Deal with and support members visiting outlets with specific loan related enquiries, or assistants required completing applications.
k) Liaise with applicants via telephone, email or other sources to confirm any anomalies found on applications.
l) Approve loan applications, then follow the necessary administration processes to update both member and operating system (Custom)
m) Respond in a professional manner to any member enquiries relating to reasons for decline.
n) Update any necessary databases, such as loan register regularly.
o) Provide data when necessary to the CEO regarding specific loan statistics
p) Play an instrumental role in the overall West Cheshire Credit Union Loan Team, giving feedback and comment to enable further improvements
q) Support any ongoing Loan Team related projects, with a view to make efficiencies / improvements.
r) Review member experiences as part of any customer journey processes and provide feedback.
5. General:
a) Ensuring General Data Protection Regulations are followed, and any breaches reported directly to the CEO
b) Abide by any confidentiality rules / guidelines as laid out by West Cheshire Credit Union
c) Work within the parameters of published Health and Safety Guidelines
d) Report any suspicions of Money Laundering are reported swiftly and in accordance with the internal Anti Money Laundering Policy
e) To undertake such duties as required by the nature and interests of the business as required by the CEO or Board of Directors.
