Legal Assistant/Family Law
Warsh Law, a busy boutique law firm in Nanaimo, British Columbia, on beautiful Vancouver Island, is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant primarily in Family Law in Canada who will provide back up support in other areas as needed.
Responsibilities
Opening and maintaining files, running conflict searches, maintaining calendars and bring forwards and preparing routine correspondence
Preparing, serving and filing court documents online and at court registry
Scheduling hearings/trials, discoveries, meetings, conferences and confirming dates with all involved parties as required
Tracking deadlines to ensure compliance with court limitations
Providing administrative support and monthly invoices
Understanding of Law Society requirements, BC Supreme Court Family Rules, BC Provincial Court Family Rules, court practices and procedures, and application legislation
Skills
Ability to work under time constraints and to complete tasks with speed and accuracy
Ability to exercise discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive matters
Strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently, take initiative and be resourceful
Using various computer applications such as MS Word, Outlook, Adobe, DivorceMate, Court Services Online and PCLaw
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $40,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
