Lead Van Driver

The Role
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Lead Van Driver to oversee daily delivery operations, ensuring accurate and on-time deliveries. In this role, you will drive a company van to transport packages, follow assigned routes, and maintain safety regulations. You will also serve as the primary point of contact for drivers, providing training, guidance, and performance monitoring to ensure compliance with company policies.
ONSITE: South San Francisco, CA
Requirements
What You'll Do:
Oversee and coordinate daily delivery schedules, ensuring on-time and accurate deliveries
Drive a company van to transport packages, following assigned routes and safety regulations
Deliver inventory to customers
Act as the primary point of contact for delivery drivers, providing training, guidance, and support
Monitor driver performance and ensure compliance with company policies and safety standards
Loading and unloading packages, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage
Ensure company inventory integrity and compliance
Re-collect outstanding inventory from drivers at the end of each shift
Communicate with management, warehouse teams, and customers to address delivery issues
Support driver recruitment, training, and onboarding efforts as needed
Be able to lift and carry at minimum 30 pounds
Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
3+ years of experience as a delivery driver
Strong knowledge of local routes and traffic patterns
Ability to lift and carry packages up to 50 lbs
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays if needed
Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives
Ability to use smartphones, tablets, and delivery apps for navigation, tracking, and reporting
Strong decision making and problem solving skills
Experience driving a transit van
Preferred Qualifications:
A BS degree is preferred
Leadership and/or supervisory experience
