About the Role
We are seeking an experienced attorney to join our team in the Revenue and Finance Division. As a Lawyer for Government Investments, you will play a key role in advising the Washington State Investment Board on complex investment matters.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide legal advice on investments, securities, pensions, employee benefits, constitutional law, tax, open public meetings, public records, and board governance;
Assist the Washington State Investment Board in litigation matters related to domestic and foreign securities;
Develop and maintain strong client relationships;
Work collaboratively with other attorneys and staff to achieve division goals.
Requirements:
A minimum of three years of experience as a transactional attorney working with investments or a combination of at least one year of experience as an attorney AND at least three years' work experience in finance/investments;
Strong analytical, research, and writing skills, with the ability to consistently produce high-quality work;
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to successfully handle competing, time-sensitive assignments;
The ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships;
The ability to work both independently and collaboratively;
Demonstrated client advice skills, including providing high-level client advice to executive leadership;
Excellent analytical, writing, and presentation skills;
A demonstrated commitment to ethics and to diversity, equity, and inclusion;
The ability to develop and maintain great working relationships with a complex client agency and enjoy problem-solving in collaboration with clients;
A strong commitment to public service;
Experience working with outside counsel.
