Instructor, Indigenous Education (Term Full-Time)

POSITION TYPE: Full-Time, Term Position Available (anticipated May 12, 2025 up to December 31, 2025)
SALARY: $63,375 - $+6,+46 per annum*

The successful candidate with a Masters or PhD in a related field will receive an Educational Supplement of $2,850 or $5,700 per annum, respectively, pro-rated on an hourly basis.

DUTIES
Reporting to the Chair, Indigenous Innovation and Science Education, Red River College Polytechnic is looking for an Instructor for the Social Innovation and Community Development Program. Responsibilities include course development, classroom instruction, supervision and guidance of students, student evaluation, advising of students, maintenance of student records and other professional duties related to instruction. Examples of subject areas are environmental studies, Indigenous knowledge, water security and stewardship, wetland ecology and land relations, truth and reconciliation, and biodiversity and ecology. The incumbent is also required to participate in department and College committees and assist in student orientation and graduation activities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as Environmental Studies, Indigenous Studies, Climate Science, Natural Resource Management, Sustainability, or a related discipline; a combination of education and relevant experience may be considered
Experience in environmental industries, and land relations
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to use conflict resolution techniques to facilitate positive outcomes
Demonstrated leadership skills
Strong presentation skills
Ability to teach on campus and remotely
Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to work independently as well as in small to large group settings
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated understanding and application of Two-Eyed Seeing, incorporating both Indigenous Knowledge and Western Science in environmental education.
Experience working with Indigenous Communities, Social Entrepreneurship and Community Development
Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

Experience developing curriculum and instructing at a post-secondary level
Certificate in Teaching for Learning or Adult Education
Experience developing and instructing distance-delivered courses including online
Experience using a Learning Management System (LMS) to deliver blended (synchronous and asynchronous) instruction

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends
This position may be required to work throughout the academic year including the summer months
Instructors are required to complete the Teaching for Learning (TFL) in Applied Education program or have previously completed the Certificate in Adult Education (CAE)
May be required to work at various RRC Polytech campuses
This position may be required to travel
Incumbent must hold a valid class 5 driver`s license
